This is the domain name, often the name or abbreviation of a company or group.

.org
This three-letter section at the end of the domain name usually indicates the type of site. For example,

  • ".org" is a non-profit organization
  • ".com" usually is a commercial or profit-making company
  • ".gov" is a government agency
  • ".edu" is an educational institution

Question White

The domain name might help you decide which Web sites you want to visit. For example, if you would like to learn about the environment or zoos, you may want to search for Web sites that have ".edu" in the name because that means they are educational places.
